Parking
A horizontal line.

Parking during rotations to clinical training sites:

All residents must pay for parking while on rotations at the various training sites. A universal parking permit is available for parking at both HMC and UWMC. The exceptions to this are as follows:

  • If you are assigned to CHRMC parking is free.

  • Parking at the VA is free. If you are assigned to the VA please do not park in spaces marked "visitor", "volunteer", "physician" or "outpatient parking".
  • If you are assigned less than two days per week at Harborview you may obtain a free parking pass by contacting the Harborview Outpatient Chief Resident. After the Outpatient Chief Resident has added you to the list of residents authorized to park at Harborview, you can obtain your parking pass from HMC parking services located in room 1EH116 (located on the first floor at the east end of Harborview). If you are assigned to HMC two days per week or more, you must pay for parking.
  • If you are assigned to a site other than UWMC, the residency office will provide parking tickets for parking during didactics. These tickets are to be used only for didactics.

Parking while on call:

Harborview: HMC Parking Services provides a free parking permit for on-call residents. To obtain the permit, you must get a letter from the Inpatient Chief Resident and present this to the HMC parking office. They will give you a tag to hang from the back of your mirror which is good for 2 years.

UWMC: Residents who have to come into the medical center for call must park in the Triangle Parking Garage. Please follow the guidelines described in the UW on-call parking procedure. Residents should park in one of four designated spots. If these spots are full, you can park elsewhere in the Triangle Parking Garage and have the attendant validate your parking for free. If you encounter any problems please contact the Graduate Medical Education Administrive Manager, Gabrielle Nathanson at 206-543-0065 or by email at nathangl@dommail.dom.washington.edu.
